August 20th, 2010 MUV – Florence
Florence is a city that will never be short of visitors. With every passing generation, there are new footprints made in the world of art, and there’s still an amazing flurry of activity here at all times. The number of artists sometimes seem outnumbered by the art schools, which all suggests that there’s something remarkable in the air. It could be the garlic, but it could also be something even more wonderful. It’s difficult to spend any time in Florence hotels without getting the art bug, and there’s always something to satisfy the hunger.
Its reputation in the world comes from its remarkable and prolific artists working here in the Renaissance, but there seems to be a renaissance of sorts happening right now. In the realm of digital culture, new experiments are pushing the boundaries of the new media, and in Florence there are some very exciting manifestations of this. One of the most enticing events, then, is the MUV Festival , where experiments in audiovisual media, digital arts, and electronic music converge. There are combinations of the disciplines that move the perception of the viewers in rather stunning directions, and opportunities to speak with the artists and talk about the new movements. It’s a heady time to be here.
