Mumbai – a Modern City with a Colorful Past


Mumbai is a major city in India that was previously known as Bombay.  The city has a colorful past and you can view this in the many mosques and museums that are located around the city.

Mahatma Gandhi lived here and his house is now a museum. The Colaba District is popular with tourists looking for great shopping and historical places.  One example is the Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus railway station – a beautiful building.  Nearby is the Gateway of India Museum.

Visitors can stay in five star hotels Mumbai.  Shopping is a popular pastime in Munbai and most things can be purchased here including designer clothes, books, CDs and gifts.   The Gateway of India has lots of tourist items including pottery, carved items, silver, scarf’s, and brass.  Tea, jewelry and carpets are also popular with tourists.

Cuisine in Mumbai is unique!  Dishes are laced with exotic spices and delicious vegetarian entrees and side dishes. Service is top of the list for both hotels and restaurants in the city of Mumbai.
