First-time visitors to Kuala Lumpur will find that the locals affectionately refer to their city as “KL.” The charm of Malaysia‘s capital city is difficult to describe. Many in the West only know of Kuala Lumpur because of the Petronas Twin Towers. For years, it was the tallest tower in the world and still holds the title of the world’s tallest twin towers. The image of the two towers has become inrevocably intertwined with the city. It is used as an official symbol on many items. However, the entire skyline of Kuala Lumpur is stunning. As a growing city of over 1.5 million Kuala Lumpur has all the modern conveniences a savy traveler expects to find in a global capital. There are restaurants offering cuisines from around the world, shopping malls and centers with designer boutiques and food courts, and a wide variety of Kuala Lumpur Malaysia hotels so that tourists can find just the right lodgings for their personal taste and travel budget.

First-timers will want to spend time visiting the Instana Negara, which is the official residence of the Malaysian King as well as the Masjid jamek, the Masjid Negara and the Istana Budaya. They may also want to check out the House of Parliament, the various KL museums, and, of course, explore the Petronas Tower which has a recreational and retail complex at its base. The city also has it’s own zoo and a separate aquarium for animal lovers.
