head in Philadelphia

Philadelphia is a great city to explore vast reservoirs of world culture. There are plenty of neighborhoods with enormously rich and complex histories, and it’s a kind of feeling of vertigo to see a past and a present in one glance. What’s happening now, culturally, in the city, is a logical progression from its past. At first glance, however, there’s nothing logical about it, because the roots are underground, or in the bricks.

It has fascinated visitors for generations, and today, as one of the largest cities in the country, has room for infinite new fascinations. That’s just one reason why, for anyone planning a vacation and looking for a great hotel, Philadelphia has something worth investigating. It’s always been a great city for music, with a very diverse ethnic mix that brings all their traditions to a very energetic scene. New things get discovered all the time, where innovations of the here and now mix with the best of the last generation.

It’s also vibrant and young enough that new artists are able to find some support in trying out new things. It is a tough town, however, and there are residents here with very worldly tastes, so only the cream rises. That seems to be exactly what is happening with the local band head . They’ve been performing to the amazement and satisfaction of local audiences for a couple of years, and seem to have it honed to where national exposure is in the works.

Their album Look without Seeing got fantastic critical acclaim, reinforcing what the fans have known all along. It’s on the heavier side of rock, and the blaring is as tight as blaring can get. There is also an enormous sophistication here, thanks in no small part to the exquisite voice of Lexi Greene. Her complex and angst-ridden lyrics also resonate with a literate crowd along with the usual suspects, making for a lovely ride.
