Window Coverings for Unusual Windows
Wednesday, March 31st, 2010There is the age-old question of what you should cover your windows with, or if you should even bother. For some windows this is harder to answer than for others, but these can also be the most rewarding ones to find the custom made difference a good set of blinds can make.
One of these hard to cover windows is the corner window . This is usually two windows that meet in the corner, but can also be one window that wraps around the corner. The easiest way to do this is to install a track either to the ceiling if it is a window that starts high, or to the window frame if it is not. You can then install a window treatment that can be pushed to the side when you want to open the blinds, or can run along the track to either side if you want them covered.
Sloping windows are a nightmare to cover, they can also be a great beauty uncovered, which is why most people never bother covering them. If you are trying to save money by adding window treatments to all of your windows, or if you live in an area with extreme temperatures, it may not be much of an option as to if you are going to cover them or not. You will want window treatments that raise and lower on their own if this is your reasoning, as it will give you the most control over temperature. There are a number of places that you can go to find great deals and suggestions on this type of blind.
While you will not need to cover a skylight for privacy reasons most of the time, you may want to cover these as well when you are trying to make your house more energy efficient. There are a number of places that offer custom designs for skylights, but you can also put in a regular roller type curtain to go across it, or you can also get these mechanized.
There a lot more unusual windows out there, these are just a few ideas for some of the more common unusual windows out there.
