The Different Seasons of NY
Anyone who has been in the city of New York during the month of August, most likely will opt for a different month to visit next time. The summer months can be brutal in the city, with the heat and the humidity, and the best times to experience all that this metropolis has to offer is the those other months surrounding…any time in the the Spring, the Fall or the Winter are incredible times for such visits. And each different season one visits one will experience it all in a new way. Late fall and early winter brings many to the city and the NY hotels, for shopping tours. There are many bargains to be found, and Christmas shopping to get done. During this time there are deals to be found in the high end designer shops on Fifth Avenue to the funky second hand boutiques in the Village. And a walk down that Avenue during the holiday season is one of the most enchanting walks, with the Christmas Tree at Rockefeller Center, and the decorations, and the store window displays which are works of art.
And while there are the well known locations to see, such as Grand Central Station and the Statue of Liberty, one of the best ways to find the hidden away treasures is to travel with or visit someone who grew up in the city. This is the best way to see some of the aspects of the city that have contributed to, and that are the reasons for the exciting nature of this town. Be it a restaurant with no sign above the door, or a hidden theater off-off Broadway, there are places that one may not find on their own. For those wanting to get tickets to some of the high priced Broadway shows, one secret of the city is to head to the ticket booth in Times Square the day of the show. Discounts are offered, usually upwards of fifty percent. There is a visitor center on Broadway as well, close to 46th Street, where one can go and receive many discount coupons for many of the attractions and activities happening throughout Manhattan. Weather the flowers are just starting to bloom, or whether the leaves are changing color or there is snow on the ground, New York is a city for every season.
