French Open Tennis
Before we know it the French Open will be upon us again. Its held from mid May through early June. The French Open tennis tournament is one of the Grand Slam events and attracts the who’s who of tennis players.
The tournament is also known as the ‘Roland Garros.’ The event started in 1891 and is now one of the world’s leading tennis tournaments. It is a clay court tournament which means that the ball moves slower and bounces higher than grass or hard courts. Certain players have specialized in this type of surface and seem to hold an advantage over those who do not. (Pete Sampras, Roger Federer and Jimmy Connors have never won this tournament)
The home of the French Open is the Roland Garros stadium which is located in Paris, France.
