Class Action Lawsuit Changes

Friday, March 28th, 2008

Class action changes are working most of the time:

Sick of legal actions resulting in giant settlements that brought little benefit to those supposedly wronged but that saw lawyers reap huge fees, Congress cracked down on class action lawsuits in 2005. The Class Action Fairness Act (CAFA) moved most class action suits out of state courts, which often had far more lax rules governing class actions, and put them in the jurisdiction of much stricter federal courts. The act has generally been heralded as a huge success for reducing questionable claims and nuisance suits that were often cheaper for a company to settle than allow to go to trial.   Read more class action lawsuits news

Non-Medical Prescription Drug Use Leads to Drug Abuse Treatment

Tuesday, March 25th, 2008

A new study has found that 20% of college students have abused prescription. The prescription drugs that are being abused include Xanax, sleeping pills, and medicine for ADHA. Of these college students, those that use prescription drugs non-medically are 80 times more likely to develop an addiction problem.

For those that become addicted, help is available at a drug abuse treatment center. Drug addiction treatment that is successful helps meet all of the needs of the addict. Many times an addict has what is called a dual-diagnosis. This means that in addition to the addiction that must be treated, the addict also has a previously undiagnosed mental health issue that will also need treatment.

A successful chemical dependency treatment facility will last for several months. This is to ensure that the substance leaves the body, any psychological needs are met and spiritual needs are met.

Wimbledon Schedule Makes Time for Sight Seeing

Thursday, March 20th, 2008

I get to go to the Wimbledon tennis tournament this year! I couldn’t be more excited than I am right now. I’ll have to get a Wimbledon schedule so that I don’t miss anything. Even if I can’t make it to a particular match, I can catch it on television.

But I have tickets to the most important matches and I’ll get to do some sight-seeing of England while I’m there. I’d like to see Big Ben and Stonehenge while I’m there. But of course I’m looking forward to seeing where the queen lives also.

I think that the athletes that win at Wimbledon are the most athletic because the court is made of grass and it’s harder to run and to serve on the softer ground. It changes the game a bit and it really shows who is prepared and who isn’t.

Las Vegas Tickets

Tuesday, March 18th, 2008

I’m heading up to Las Vegas for a conference next week. I can hardly wait. As well as work I have got quite a few things planned. I want to do a bit of sightseeing, play blackjack and check out some of the Las Vegas shows.

When I get my Las Vegas tickets I am planning to sightsee on the strip. My hotels is downtown so that will give an opportunity to wander around before I go up to the major resorts on the Las Vegas strip. Some of the purchases I want to make include Cirque du Soleil tickets and La Reve tickets.

I am also hoping to play a game of golf while in Las Vegas. The weather should be perfect. Perhaps I will also have time to fit in a game of tennis too!!

All in all I will have lots of distractions to keep me amused during my trip to LasVegas. This will cost quite a bit….but I am relying on my winning to finance the trip while I’m there!!

Traveling with My Map of the United States

Tuesday, March 18th, 2008

Traveling in the summertime is what I look forward to all year. I always prepare so that I make it to every place that I want to in a given vacation. I always make sure that I have sunscreen, maps, a sleeping bag and gas for my car.

The maps that I’ll be using this year include a map of the United States, a zip codes map, and several city street maps. If I have all of these with me, then I’ll be able to make it to each and every destination. And by destination I mean Arizona, Nebraska and Wyoming. I feel like if I see all of those places then I did a fair amount of sight seeing.

I bring my sleeping bag because sometimes all of the hotels will be full because of a convention or the like and then I have to sleep in my car. I don’t mind that too much though. When I go to the beach I never stay in hotels. I like the sound of the waves to much.

French Open Tennis

Tuesday, March 4th, 2008

Before we know it the French Open will be upon us again. Its held from mid May through early June. The French Open tennis tournament is one of the Grand Slam events and attracts the who’s who of tennis players.

The tournament is also known as the ‘Roland Garros.’ The event started in 1891 and is now one of the world’s leading tennis tournaments. It is a clay court tournament which means that the ball moves slower and bounces higher than grass or hard courts. Certain players have specialized in this type of surface and seem to hold an advantage over those who do not. (Pete Sampras, Roger Federer and Jimmy Connors have never won this tournament)

The home of the French Open is the Roland Garros stadium which is located in Paris, France.
